Eligibility Criteria

All applicants must:

  • Be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Has completed a minimum of one course in the School of Access and is continuing their education at Camosun College and enrolled full-time in the Fall semester

Application Process

  1. Complete the online application no later than August 1, and include a one-page letter of intention.
    1. Your letter of intention should:
      1. Describe why you are interested in your program and what your future career goals are
      2. Demonstrate ways in which you have contributed to your community.
  2. Applications will be accepted from March 1 to August 1. Late, incomplete or printed applications will not be accepted.
  3. Adjudication of this award will be managed by the Financial Aid and Awards office. All decisions are final.
  4. Successful recipients will be notified by email by October 1.
  5. Award will be applied directly to the student account. If tuition and fees have already been paid, the surplus amount will be refunded.

  • Online application will be available from March to August 1.

  • Adjudication of this bursary will be managed by Financial Aid & Awards. All decisions are final.
  • Successful recipients will be notified by email by October 1.
  • Funds will be applied directly to the student account. If tuition and fees have already been paid, any residual bursary amounts will be refunded to the student.
  • Entrance bursaries cannot be deferred to a future semester or year.
  • Students will not normally receive more than one entrance bursary.
  • Students receiving Persons with Disabilities or Income Assistance should speak with Financial Aid & Awards and their Ministry case worker to discuss how bursary funds may impact their government assistance.
  • Bursary funds are considered income. A statement for income tax purposes will be sent to recipients by Camosun.
  • Bursary recipients are encouraged to write a thank you letter to the donor; thank you letters can be submitted to Financial Aid & Awards at either campus.

  • If I give answers that are not true or if changed circumstances make me ineligible, I will be required to pay back all or part of the entrance award I received.
  • If I am receiving income assistance, student loan/grant or other government funding, I am required to notify the appropriate government office of the amount of entrance award funding I have been granted.
  • I consent that the Financial Aid & Awards office may release application information to the Camosun College Foundation Office and to the entrance award donor.
  • If I receive $500 or more in entrance awards funds in one year, a statement for income tax purposes will be sent to me by Camosun College.
  • I understand that entrance awards funds will be applied to any outstanding tuition fees.
