Eligibility Criteria

Applicant must:

  • Be enrolled full time in the first or second year of a multi-year program at a CICan member institution
  • Be a Canadian citizen, landed immigrant, permanent resident, or a protected person
  • Be able to demonstrate financial need
  • Preference will be given to students attending colleges or institutes in rural, remote, or northern areas.

Instructions to express your interest in this bursary:

  1. Complete one application form
  2. Attach your short essay (max 1600 words) describing the impact that the bursary will have on your ability to attend a college or institute and your involvement in the community.
  3. Attach three letters of support from people who know you. This can include a past or current employer, a teacher, a college administrator, a member of a community or campus organization, someone involved in student services or a faculty member.
  4. Review your application form for errors. No changes are permitted after the application is submitted.

  2. I have answered all questions completely and accurately.
  3. I consent to Camosun College Financial Aid & Awards staff checking or verifying information on this application. This may include the exchange of information within Camosun College and with external organizations, such as provincial or territorial student aid offices.
  4. If I give answers that are not true or if changed circumstances make me ineligible, I may be required to pay back all or part of the bursary I received.
  5. If am receiving income assistance, student loan/grant or other government funding, I am required to notify the appropriate government office of the amount of bursary funding I have been granted.
  6. I consent that Camosun College may release application details, including all submitted attachments, to CICan through an online application form. 

Collection and use of information: Camosun College asks for the information on this application at the request of the CICan Paul and Gerri Charette Bursary Program. The information on this form and all supporting documents may be verified with Camosun College Student Records; with faculty and staff to verify your registration, class attendance, progress, grade point average, and other details related to your eligibility for the bursary.
