Award Overview
The CIBC Entrance Awards for Indigenous Students are available for Indigenous Students entering their first year of studies in a post-secondary program that is at least 6 months in duration. Students will be selected based on their written essay. Up to 5 awards will be distributed equally across the following Schools: Access, Arts & Science, Business, Health & Human Services, Sport & Exercise Education, and Trades & Technology. Proof of Indigenous ancestry is required.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicant must:
- Be a student with Indigenous ancestry
- Be entering first year of post-secondary level studies in the Fall 2021 semester
- Be enrolled full time in a post-secondary program at Camosun that is at least 6-months in length and leads to a credential (certificate, diploma or degree). Note: Technology Access programs (6 months or greater) are eligible programs.
- Submit proof of Indigenous ancestry
- Submit student written essay, up to 1000 words, answering the following question: Who or what inspired you to purse a post-secondary education? How will your education serve you, your family, or your community?
Selection Process
- Recipients will be selected based on satisfying all award criteria and student written essay.
- The Awards Committee will review applications and recommend recipients. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
- The successful recipients will be notified by email no later than 6 weeks after the award application closing date.
- The award will be applied to the successful recipients’ tuition account for the Fall semester. If all tuition is paid in full, the award will be mailed as a cheque to the recipient.
