Eligibility Criteria
All applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Must be a current or previous James Bay Athletic Association (JBAA) athlete and submit a letter from the coach or club personnel.
- Must be enrolled in full-time studies in the upcoming Fall semester in a Camosun College post-secondary level program leading to a credential. For the purpose of this award, full-time study is defined as a minimum of 60% course load.
- Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
Application Process
- Complete and submit the online application no later than the award deadline.
- Include a letter from the JBAA coach or club personnel confirming status as a JBAA athlete.
- Include a one-page personal statement outlining community involvement. Your personal statement should explain why you are a good candidate for the award. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate a desire to give back to their local community.
Additional Information
- The Awards Committee will review applications and recommend a recipient. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. All decisions are final.
- The successful recipient will be notified by email no later than 6 weeks after the award application closing date.
- Entrance awards cannot be deferred to a future semester or year.
- Students will not normally receive more than one entrance award.
- Students receiving Persons with Disabilities or Income Assistance should speak with Financial Aid & Awards and their Ministry case worker to discuss how award funds may impact their government assistance.
- Entrance award funds are considered income. A statement for income tax purposes will be sent to recipients by Camosun.
- Award recipients are encouraged to write a thank you letter to the donor; thank you letters can be submitted to Financial Aid & Awards.
