Eligibility Criteria

All applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  1. Must be accepted at Camosun College into an Apprenticeship program in Sheet Metal OR Plumbing & Pipe Trades
  2. Your technical training must begin between August 1, 2019 and August 31, 2020
  3. Be able to demonstrate financial need
  4. Be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident

Application Process

  1. Complete and submit the online application form.
  2. Optional: you may also include a brief (500 word maximum) personal statement, describing why you are interested in your chosen field, and information regarding any past or current financial barriers.

Additional Information

  • Submit your online application to Financial Aid & Awards as early as six weeks before your technical training start date and no later than two weeks before your technical training end date. Late applications will not be accepted.
  • Applications will be accepted from August 1, 2019 until August 31, 2020 at the latest. Applications will be assessed as they are received and bursaries may be awarded at any point during the application period. Once ALL recipients have been selected, the application will be considered closed and no further funding will be available for the remainder of the academic year.
  • Adjudication of this bursary will be managed by Financial Aid & Awards. All decisions are final.
  • Bursaries cannot be deferred to a future technical training session.
  • Successful applicants will be notified by email within 6 weeks of applying.
  • Funds will be applied directly to the student account. If tuition and fees have already been paid, any residual bursary amounts will be refunded to the student.
  • Students receiving Persons with Disabilities or Income Assistance should speak with Financial Aid & Awards and their Ministry case worker to discuss how bursary funds may impact their government assistance.
  • Bursary funds are considered income. A statement for income tax purposes will be sent to recipients by Camosun.
  • Bursary recipients are encouraged to write a thank you letter to the donor; thank you letters can be submitted to Financial Aid & Awards at either campus.

  • Review your application form for errors. No changes are permitted after the application is submitted.
  • Submit your application to Financial Aid & Awards. Only one application per person may be submitted.
