A complete application includes:

  • Unofficial transcript. This can be printed from Camlink.
  • Photocopy of the photo page in your passport. Your passport must be valid for SIX MONTHS following the end date of the program. 
  • Statement of Purpose (no more than one page) outlining:
    • Why you would like to go on an exchange
    • How the exchange will contribute to your academic program, future career, community work and life experiences
    • How you would share your exchange experience to the Camosun community and others when you return

DEADLINE TO APPLY:  October 1 for winter exchanges; March 31 for fall exchanges.

The personal information collected on this application is collected under the authority of section 41(1) of the Colleges and Institutes Act, and pursuant to section 26(d) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.  The personal information will be used for the purpose of: admission, registration, academic progress, notification of future courses, notification of test results and operating other Camosun-related programs. This information may also be shared with third-party organizations involved directly with the exchange, such as partner institutions.

PARTICIPANT CODE FOR EXCHANGE

All participants of a Camosun Exchange must be a minimum of nineteen years of age. As such, all are legally adults and will be expected to conduct themselves accordingly.

All participants will be seen as representatives of Camosun College, and often will be in close contact with colleagues from Camosun College’s partner institution overseas. The Camosun College Student Conduct Policy applies to participants in a study abroad experience. Additionally, any conduct which contravenes the laws of the host country, puts in jeopardy the safety of any participant of the program or member of the partner institution, seriously disrupts the delivery of the program, violates the rules and regulations established in good faith by the partner institution, or detracts in a substantial way from the learning environment, will not be tolerated.

Application for, payment for, and participation in the exchange program, constitute acceptance of the terms of the exchange, including the academic content, length and location of the program, the terms of participant conduct as well as payment schedule, deadlines and amount.

Payment for tuition and fees will follow Camosun College’s schedule and policies.  Refer to the fees page for more information.

The Pre-Departure Orientation session is mandatory. Students who, for any reason, are not able to attend the session must contact Camosun International immediately and make alternative arrangement for an orientation meeting.  Contact Study Abroad or visit the Study Abroad website for upcoming dates.

RELEASE OF LIABILITY, WAIVER OF CLAIMS, ASSUMPTION OF RISKS, AUTHORIZATION AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT

I SHALL, at my own expense, arrange and take responsibility for the following:

  1. All travel documentation, or other documents required for the placement, including but not limited to all visas and work permits;
  2. Transportation to and from the country where the exchange is to take place, including any changes to travel arrangements, and the associated costs;
  3. Accommodation in the host country;
  4. Any insurance coverage, including travel, medical, property and workplace insurance, that may apply to me;
  5. All legal and financial obligations arising from the above or from my participation in the exchange. This can include the reimbursement of scholarships/bursaries as described in their terms and conditions;
  6. Monitor and abide by the recommendation in the Government of Canada’s Country Travel Advice and Advisories

I AM AWARE of the possibility of personal health and safety risks due to my participation in the placement, including the exposure to diseases, to different legal and cultural standards, to travel and personal safety risks; and I freely accept and fully assume all risks, dangers and hazards and the possibility of personal injury, death or loss resulting from these.

I AM ALSO AWARE of the immunization required before entering the country and I will obtain such appropriate immunizations at my expense.

IN CONSIDERATION of my voluntary participation in the placement and recognizing that Camosun College cannot fully screen the host institution or the conditions under which I will be studying, I AGREE to conduct myself in a responsible manner AND I FURTHER AGREE AS FOLLOWS:

  1. TO WAIVE ANY AND ALL CLAIMS that I have or may have against Camosun College, its Directors, officers, employees, students, volunteers and other representatives (hereinafter collectively referred to as the “Releasees”) arising from my participation in the exchange.
  2. TO RELEASE the Releasees from any and all liability for death or any loss, damage, injury or expense that I may suffer, or that my next of kin may suffer arising from my participation in the exchange.
  3. TO INDEMNIFY the Releasees from any and all liability for any damage to property of, personal injury to, or deather of any third party arising from my participation in the exchange.
  4. THAT I have fully informed the person designated below as my Next of Kin concerning my participation in the international exchange; that he/she has agreed to act as my Next of Kin; and that I AUTHORIZE Camosun College to contact this person for or with information about me unless I revoke or change this appointment by notifying Camosun College, International Office in writing.
  5. THAT THIS DOCUMENT shall be binding upon my heirs, Next of Kin, executors, administrators, assigns, and representatives in the event of my death or incapacity; THAT I HAVE READ IT AND I UNDERSTAND ITS CONTENTS; AND THAT BY SIGNING THIS DOCUMENT I AM WAIVING CERTAIN LEGAL RIGHTS which I or my heirs, Next of Kin, executors, administrators and assigns may have against the Releasees.
